Start Spreading the Ink ("New York, New York")
Start spreading the ink, I'm leavin' tonight
I've got my first press check tomorrow
Early and bright.
I get to the plant, having no sleep at all
Only to sit around, waiting for that call.
Then each sheet they show me
Seems to look the same as before
And when I say, "Make it pop!"
They storm out the door.
So I make a few calls, I try to catch a few winks
I really miss the office. This press checking stinks.
And oh, I know, my author's depending on me,
But I can hardly see. And I'm hungry.
And then I see him
Walking toward me with a smile on his face
And I'm thinkin', I'm gonna love it, Sign off OK
Hop on my plane-He's walking away!
I'm losing my mind, Not to mention some weight
I haven't had a single solid meal
No wonder I'm in this state-
Hungry...tired...thirsty...mean-
And I don't want to cause a scene-
So I sign off on red green beans.
