At Brooks/Cole Publishing Company: Micky Lawler has returned to Brooks/Cole temporarily to lend a hand in manufacturing, at least until the World Series begins. Micky was production director in the 1980s and has freelanced and worked for
Hampton-Brown in recent years. Barbara Stephan has joined Brooks/Cole as senior manufacturing buyer. She was previously manufacturing coordinator at Heinle & Heinle in Boston and also worked at Houghton Mifflin.
At GTS Graphics: Chris Budman has added the responsibilities of manager of customer service to her role as manager of production control. Chris has 18 years of experience in textbook production. Renee DiIulio has joined the sales and marketing team
as a sales and marketing analyst. She transferred from her coordinator position in the GTS editorial department in April.
Jossey-Bass, Inc. Publishers has acquired Pfeiffer & Co., a San Diego based publisher of training packages, books, and other products for consultants, trainers, and human
resource professionals, and the company announced these promotions: John Cronin to manufacturing director and Paula Goldstein to art director. These three people are
relocating from the Pfeiffer offices to Jossey-Bass in San Francisco: Dawn Kilgore,
senior production editor; Beck Carreno, manufacturing specialist; and John Freeman, design/production assistant. In addition, Jennifer Hines has accepted the position of catalog design supervisor, and Ingrid Owens the position of art/design supervisor.
At Mayfield Publishing Company: Lynn Rabin Bauer has been promoted to senior production editor; she has been a production editor for five years and before that both a
production assistant and editorial assistant. Carla White joined Mayfield in April as a
production editor; she had been an associate editor for dictionaries and references at
NTC Publishing Group in Lincolnwood, Illinois, and an assistant editor at The World Book Encyclopedia in Chicago. Jean Mailander has been promoted to designer; she has been an associate designer at Mayfield since 1992 and before that a production artist.
Susan Breitbard has been promoted to designer; she has been an associate designer at
Mayfield since 1992. Mary Granahan has joined Mayfield as rights and permissions
editor; most recently, she was senior permissions editor at Addison-Wesley School
Division. Granahan replaces Pamela Trainer, who retired on July 1. Susan Shook joined Mayfield in March as a developmental editor in charge of all supplements; she was formerly with Wadsworth as an assistant editor in sociology.
Passing
Allan Jossey-Bass, founder of Jossey-Bass, Inc. died of complications from emphysema at the age of 68. He started the company in 1965 and sold it to Robert Maxwell in 1989.
