Become a Member of Bookbuilders West

MEMBERS MUST BE LOCATED in, or do business in, one of the 13 Western states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Publishers must publish books that bear an imprint from one of the 13 Western states, that were registered for copyright from a western address, or that were produced in one of the 13 Western states. Single-person companies who provide editing, design, or production services to Western publishers are considered publisher members.

Suppliers must be actively engaged in vending their services to qualified publishers. Services provided by firms or individuals include art, design, or production services; composition; prepress; manufacturing; or other professional operations that relate to book publishing.

Membership is granted to applicants upon majority vote of the Membership Committee, followed by approval of the Board of Directors. Notice of acceptance or rejection is made to the applicant by the Chair of the Membership Committee as soon as possible following Board action; dues are billed annually. Membership is granted to firms, not to individuals within firms. (Freelancers and single-person companies can also be members.) In all voting situations, each firm has one vote.

Per the bylaws, the membership ratio must be not less than one-third publisher members to two-thirds supplier members.
