Summertime Student Scholarship Award Event
Plan on attending the Annual Scholarship Awards Celebration
Wednesday, June 27 on Benjamin Cummings’ beautiful
rooftop terrace in San Francisco. Meet friends and colleagues
and the designers of tomorrow as Bookbuilders presents college
design students with scholarship funds in recognition of
their design achievements—their handmade books submitted
for judging earlier this spring. Throw in some fine food
and spirits, raffle prizes and live jazz, and a good time
is guaranteed for all. See you there!

I look forward to each year's book entries. The student
projects continually reach new levels of dedication, creativity,
and craftsmanship.

Bookbuilders West has enriched my Book Design Technology
class since I began teaching at Cal Poly. Students look
forward to designing and producing their own version of
a favorite book to submit to the BBW Scholarship competition.
The limited edition book project has become
the capstone for our Graphic Communication students concentrating
in Design Reproduction Technology. It's the perfect blend
of creativity, craftsmanship, and technology. It allows
them to learn the technical aspects associated with the
production of books. In the end, my students leave with
a new appreciation of the book publishing industry.
