ANNUAL CRASH COURSE: Book Production Basics

HUNGRY FOR KNOWLEDGE? WE'LL GIVE YOU THAT . . . and good food too!
Every spring, Bookbuilders West offers its Annual Crash Course in Book Production. This basic course covers the book publishing process including editing, book design, book composition, art and photo preparation for 1-, 2-, and 4-color lithography, paper, printing and binding. The 2006 agenda included information about new media technologies. Each speaker presents an overview of his or her subject, introducing the process to those who are new to book production and to those wishing to brush up on specific aspects of book production. Course materials (and lunch) are provided.

The Crash Course in Production Basics is an all day workshop designed to give an overview of the processes necessary to take a book project from concept to final product, including a variety of electronic components, and highlighting the most important aspects of each subject as it relates to the book production process as a whole. The course is designed for newcomers to the industry wanting to learn about the basics of their job, as well as other members of the team such as Editorial, Marketing, or Sales.
