Bookbuilders West dinner events focus on topics of professional interest, with speakers from the ranks of publishing professionals who give their time to share their knowledge and expertise. In 2003 we started alternating dinner events with educational seminars and social mixers, ending with our Annual Book Show and Awards Dinner in December.

Every spring, Bookbuilders West offers it's annual Crash Course in Book Production. This basic course covers the book publishing process including editing, book design, book composition, art and photo preparation for 1-, 2-, and 4-color lithography, paper, printing and binding. Each speaker presents an overview of their subject, introducing the process to those who are new to book production and to those wishing to brush up on specific aspects of book production. Course materials (and lunch) are provided.

Each year entries are judged by a panel of experts to recognize superior execution and innovation. The Book Show culminates in a gala banquet where all entries are displayed and winning entries are presented with Certificates of Excellence. Award-winning entries are showcased in a custom-made, hardcover catalog, which is distributed to attendees of the banquet. In addition, the award-winning books form a traveling show that is displayed throughout the year at various locations around the country.
